Calling the Reaper

by Jason Pere

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 GENRE: Dark Fantasy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 BLURB:

The time of the Unity has ended. Now, the realm of man is stranded between Paradise and Purgatory. The Valkyrie and Reaper battle over the fate of all who pass from the land of the living and into the afterlife.

Eight mortal spirits from vastly different worlds tread the same, inevitable path toward their last, crucial decision. Within them all exists the defining conflict every man must face—to look upon the end of their life with glory and honor, or to give credence to their baser longings, calling the Reaper to their own demise.

In this rich, harrowing tale of pride, deceit, honor, vengeance, and redemption, each individual must battle their inner turmoil, facing the sacrifices they have made before their unavoidable end in the land of the living.

But their last day in life is also their first day of death amidst the terrors of the underworld. Lord Master Death wants them all…and the real battle has only just begun.

Excerpt:

Aristo reached far within and blocked all the pain shooting through his being. I am Praetorian, my flesh does my bidding. Again, he commanded his eyes to open. When he finally managed to force them open, the agony consuming his head must have felt very much like staring straight into the blazes of the sun. He felt the tearing of skin as his world instantly turned from the darkest black to a moment of brightest white. His eyes watered heavily and he blinked, trying to clear away at least some of the dried blood which had sealed his eyes shut. For several moments, everything was a blur, but then he could distinguish colors and shapes again.

He nearly wished that he had in fact been blinded; he would have at least been spared the image before him. Aristo had been wounded in battle before, but never like this. His body lay covered in a blanket of dried crimson. No one would have known that he bore the deep purple uniform of the Praetorian Legion had they even bothered to look at him. It was confounding that he had bled so profusely and could still draw breath, still feel the beat of his heart within his chest. A moment of warrior’s pride overtook him when he studied his twisted form and realized the excruciating pain was not unwarranted. Then he remembered.

Captured, he thought. I’ve been captured.

Three Weeks to Wed

by Ella Quinn

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Historical Romance (Regency)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 BLURB:

In the first book of her dazzling new series, bestselling author Ella Quinn introduces the soon-to-be Earl and Countess of Worthington–lovers who have more in common than they yet know. The future promises to be far from boring…

Lady Grace Carpenter is ready to seize the day–or rather, the night–with the most compelling man she’s ever known. Marriage would mean losing guardianship of her beloved siblings, and surely no sane gentleman will take on seven children not his own. But if she can have one anonymous tryst with Mattheus, Earl of Worthington, Grace will be content to live out the rest of her life as a spinster.

Matt had almost given up hope of finding a wife who could engage his mind as well as his body. And now this sensual, intelligent woman is offering herself to him. What could be more perfect? Except that after one wanton night, the mysterious Grace refuses to have anything to do with him. Amid the distractions of the Season he must convince her, one delicious encounter at a time, that no obstacle–or family–is too much for a man who’s discovered his heart’s desire…

“Oh, the tangled webs we weave…especially when our hearts are involved. Three Weeks to Wed is a delightfully heartwarming escape into the sparkling world of the Regency.  Ella Quinn weaves magic.” –Cathy Maxwell, New York Times bestselling author

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
 There was much too much to accomplish before dinner for Grace to allow Worthington to disturb her so greatly. She gave herself a shake. Surely their meeting earlier was an aberration.
Grace sallied out to Bond Street followed by Harold to exchange the ribbon. She stepped out of the haberdasher’s and saw Worthington across the street engaged in conversation with another gentleman. For a moment, she stood, frozen to the pavement.
He stopped speaking and turned as if he could sense her presence. The next thing she knew he had stepped purposefully into the busy street. A coach driver shouted, bringing his vehicle to a halt, and blocked her view of him.
This could not be happening. She was not prepared to speak to him. Not yet. “Harold, oh my, look at the time, we must return home immediately.”
She hurriedly turned down a little-used alley leading to Bruton Street.
The footman trotted to catch up to her. “My lady, why are we going this way?”
Grace faced straight ahead. “This was the shortcut, was it not? Ah, see, here is Bruton Street now, so much quicker than the other way.”
She stared straight ahead, not slowing to see if Worthington was following.
After striding swiftly down the pavement to pass a group of ladies, she slowed her pace and continued on calmly down the street until they came to the cross leading back to Berkeley Square.
As soon as she attained her room, Grace took off her hat and fell into a chair. Her heart was pounding, again. She was going to have apoplexy at this rate. How was she to avoid him for the rest of the Season?
Excerpt:
Super Powers
“Too much talk,” she hissed impatiently. “Still prey nearby.”
“How do you know?” I wasn’t picking anything up but there were plenty of other ways to see.
“The forest tells me. How I found you and other prey.” She stalked back into the underbrush, and I fell in behind her.
“Hey, hold up a second! Doc?”
“Project Panthera: human-jaguar hybrid with altered epidermal neural transmission,” he rattled off.
“In English!”
“Right,” he grunted. “The same way your skin picks up vibrations in the air, hers picks up the biochemical signals from plants. It’s like she’s plugged into the forest. She probably feels anything that so much as bends a blade of grass.”
“Great,” I muttered, turning back to Panthera. “Why are you hunting Legion?”
“Man in glasses told me they were prey.” She shrugged. She didn’t seem to have any more intel than I did, assuming she was being straight-up with me.
“So what did he say about me?” I asked. Call me paranoid, but I was a little hesitant to trust a Weapon which had launched itself at me not five minutes before. She stopped and regarded me thoughtfully, blinking her eyes slowly.
“You are different. Strong. Fun. But not prey. Maybe you are hunter like me.”
“If you’re hunting Legion, our enemies are the same.”
For now.
“Be careful, Roger,” warned Dr. Morrison. “I’m not sure how stable she is.”
“I’ve seen worse.” Augmentation was a dangerous game. The human mind could only process so much stimulation. Too much information overwhelmed the brain. That was why the government stuck to basics when they designed me. Enhanced performance in all areas, but still human performance. Weapons like Panthera with abilities no human brain was ever meant to handle…those were the ones liable to snap. Hell, that was probably what happened with Legion. Someone tried to create a god and wound up with a monster.
The Productivity Book by Michael Brecht
The Productivity Book
by Michael Brecht
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 GENRE: Non-fiction/time management

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Ever wondered what the secret is to productivity? Here’s a hint: there isn’t just one. Introducing the Doodle Productivity Book! Containing in-depth interviews with 30 of the world’s top productivity & time management experts, this book lifts the lid on the industry’s best kept tips and tricks. The result? An engaging and practical guide that will help you find your natural pace, so you can work smarter—not harder.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

TheProductivityBook_frontcover

Excerpt:

Since the questions we asked opened a window into a day in the life of a productivity expert, we wanted our final conclusion to reflect this. So, here’s our summary of what a productive day should look like.

The perfect day starts the night before. Outline your goals. Whether this is a simple to-do list or time blocking, make sure tomorrow’s objectives are clear. Then sleep on it.

Everyone needs a different amount of sleep. Know what works for you and structure your schedule around that. Nearly all of our experts cited adequate rest as essential to maintaining productivity.

Wake up bright and early. Leave enough time to spend at least an hour and a half preparing for the day. Whether it’s reading, yoga, Pilates, running or simply thinking. Follow this with a healthy breakfast and you’re good to go.

Get to work. Now that you’ve prepared mentally, it’s time to take on the day. This period is when you’re at your most productive, so use it wisely. Let the calls go to voicemail, put your cellphone on silent and don’t answer emails. Emails are rarely worth your most energized and motivated moments. Unless it’s a creative meeting, don’t take it.

If you need time constraints, use a timer! Or the Pomodoro Technique.

Once you’re into the afternoon, time block to focus on admin and less important tasks like responding to emails and taking meetings. This will stop you from getting distracted and help you to focus on one thing at a time.

Because your brain is slower, this is the best part of the day to incorporate technology. So, start up your favorite tried and tested apps and use them to help you take notes, see your reminders, book appointments and whatever else is important. And remember, saying “no” can be more productive than “yes”.

By this point, you should have had a highly productive day. So, use the evening to relax with friends or family. But remember: A little planning the night before can go a long way toward having a successful, fulfilling tomorrow.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Productivity Book by Michael Brecht
The Productivity Book is an intriguing book of interviews with 30 professionals working within various industries from all around the world and coming from various backgrounds who all discuss their approach to time management and getting things done. This book is light and easy to read, offering insight from various tools and tricks to habits and routines. One of the most enjoyable parts of reading this book is how each interviewee has a unique voice and many are quite playful and display a good sense of humor. There aren’t many advice books out there that can make you laugh along with helping you figure out how to get it all done and get ahead. It’s a worthwhile read.
What’s the most recent adjustment that you’ve made to your personal productivity routine?
Realizing that “NO” is a complete sentence. When said in a polite manner, of course. If a project isn’t consistent with where I want to take my business then I don’t get involved, even if that project could be highly profitable.
Your main challenge to stay organized is …
Thinking I can multi-task like a computer. I need to do ONE thing at a time.
 In what ways has your perception of time changed as you’ve grown older?
As performers or speakers we have curtains that open for a small window of time. We have to make the most of that time in order to build an emotional connection, share new perspectives and create an experience rather than meeting expectations. But, in reality, all of our time is like this in that our curtains are open but we never know when they might close.
We will never have more time than we do right now! So, why not now? Make it happen before it’s too late or we’ll miss the opportunity to experience, act, feel, learn, participate, connect and LIVE! Work hard doing what you enjoy but ALWAYS take the time to be a part of something bigger—your purpose and passion.
Take it all in as life is NOT a dress rehearsal and you don’t know when your curtains will close.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

MediaKit_BookCover_ThePurse

Excerpt:

As she walked into the bedroom, the smell of her father’s cologne lingered even through all the sickness that had been in the air. Stepping over to the deep walk-in closet, Lydia opened the double doors to reveal her father’s suits, ties, and shoes. She made a mental note to have Rosita donate her father’s clothes so they didn’t hang like a shrine. She stared at every inch of the closet until her eyes fell on a small shoebox buried on the top shelf. Lydia retrieved the step-ladder from within a hidden compartment in the closet’s wall and stood on it to pull down the shoebox. Without thinking, she strolled over to her father’s bed, sat down, and went through all the memories kept in the cardboard box.

Many were just baby pictures of Lydia, and then she discovered a picture of her mother when she was pregnant. How beautiful she was; she looked so happy and carefree. What in the world could have happened? More questions, no answers. Lydia decided to keep the picture with her. Digging deeper yet into the box, she also found pictures of her father and Derek together. They made a handsome couple, though it was still difficult to believe her father had been involved with a man. At least true love hadn’t escaped him as she’d previously thought.

Yours Truly, 2095

by Brian Paone

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Time Travel Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Jeff Blue – the victim of a time-travel conspiracy – wakes up trapped in the year 2095. The only familiar face is J0, a robotic copy of the wife he left behind in 1981. But can she be trusted? J0 could be the only key to unlock Jeff’s journey home, but it will require her to do something against her programming , something human.

During Jeff’s perilous journey through the future, he will have to discover the truth about J0’s origins, and solve the mystery behind how he wound up in 2095, in order to uncover the reality of his own destiny.

Armed with a one-way ticket to the moon, Jeff must race against the clock to seize what might be his last chance to return home to his time. A time without hover cars, Justice Computers, or TeleSkins – a time over 100 years ago.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MediaKit_BookCover_YoursTruly
EXCERPT:
 I had always wondered what it would be like to experience music from the future. How could I tell J0 that I wanted to be left alone so I could listen to an album that I would have no way of hearing otherwise? I wanted to hear where my favorite band took their sound after their most recent album back in my time.
The next song sounded more commercial than anything I had ever heard from them. David Gilmour’s voice sounded weathered, and I wondered why I hadn’t heard Roger Waters sing anything yet.
“Breakfast is ready,” J0 called from the kitchen.
As we sat at our kitchen table, we could hear the music there too. J0 was talking about something that I really wasn’t following. I found myself tuning her out to focus on the music instead. To make it look like I was listening, I nodded a lot. I wondered, if Bruce could find a way to bounce me back to 1981, would I be able to take some music with me?
“Hey, J0, you know what’s weird?” I asked, completely interrupting her midsentence. “I can name every Pink Floyd album from The Piper at the Gates of Dawn through The Wall, but, after that, my memory is a bit hazy. I feel that if I could just remember something like that, maybe I’ll start to remember more things later.”
“Well, after The Wall, there were only four more albums before they officially broke up. The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, The Division Bell, and The Endless River.”
I shoveled the food into my mouth and tuned my ears back to the songs coming from the speakers. The music saddened me now that I knew it was just one album away from being their swan song.
“It made me so happy when you chose Quadrophenia last night,” J0 said. “It’s just more proof that you really are getting better and that your memory is repairing itself.”
“I don’t understand.”
“As much as you love Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails, you really love The Who way more than anything else. Last night was the first time I saw you just be your old self again. It was nice. Plus you even picked your favorite album by them.”
As much as I was a fan of The Who, they were far from being my favorite, which had always been Pink Floyd. Could this have been a result of the entropy happening too? Since I could finally see the real body I inhabited, was my mind next? Would all my personal opinions and tastes be hijacked and replaced with his, too?
I now realized that I needed to visit a tangible place rooted in who I really was—my house on West Winter Street. I didn’t want to raise any suspicion from J0, even though I desperately needed to see the home that I had been so unfairly ripped away from.
“J0, listen to me. I need some time by myself today. You know, just to clear my head. I feel like I’m getting closer to being myself again and—”
“Another reason why you shouldn’t be alone,” she interjected. “I don’t want any unseen forces setting you back.”
“No. In fact, I think just the opposite. It will help me if I can just feel the ground beneath my feet and reconnect with this wreck of a town.”
“This wreck of a town? You love Isabella Creek!”
“Yes, I do. But I wonder, is Isabella Creek always supposed to be like this? Is life meant to be lived this way?”
What was I even talking about? I couldn’t believe I was saying these things. Was this another entropy-related side effect?
Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard
Promise Lodge
by Charlotte Hubbard
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Amish/Inspirational Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Energetic widow Mattie Bender Schwartz is working day and night to get Promise Lodge going. She’s also hoping the change will help her son Noah’s heart to heal after his broken engagement. But his former fiancée, Deborah, is looking for a fresh start too. Filled with regret, and cast out by her dat for a reason she can’t yet reveal, Deborah can only pray Noah will forgive her foolishness.
Deborah is the last person Noah expected to show up at Promise Lodge. But with her cruel words still ringing in his head, he’s reluctant to accept her apology—even if the Old Order ways demand he try. If only he could obey Christ’s most important commandment: love one another. But one thing is certain—his mother and aunts, and their beloved Preacher Amos, will do their best to help him get there.
EXCERPT:
 Deborah gazed around the homey one-room cabin. A lingering lemony scent suggested a top-to-bottom cleaning. Two cozy old chairs flanked a simple table, with a braided rug between them on the wood plank floor. The double bed was made up with a colorful quilt and fresh sheets. Through an open door, she saw a small bathroom with a toilet, sink, and a shower. The cabin reminded Deborah of the one her family had rented during a family reunion in a state park.
“This is really cozy,” she murmured. “If you’ve got new families coming in, though, I don’t want to be in the way when—”
“This is you we’re talking about!” Laura interrupted. “You’ll never be in the way, silly goose. This is the smallest cabin—too cramped for a family with kids. So stay as long as you want!”
“Let’s show you around. Then we can catch up on what’s going on back home while we plant a second patch of sweet corn,” Phoebe suggested. “With all the time it took to move here, we’re late planting some of our vegetables for the produce stand. But it’ll all work out—especially with you helping us, Deborah.”
As her friends showed her the rest of the cabins and the grounds, Deborah’s spirits lifted. The Hershbergers were hoping she’d stick around Promise Lodge for a while, and she had no doubt that she could be useful. Everywhere she looked, walls needed painting and windows needed curtains and floors needed scrubbing.
When the three of them reached Rainbow Lake’s freshly mowed shoreline, several frogs hopped into the water. The lake sparkled with sun diamonds as it lapped gently around an old wooden dock that extended toward its center. A fish jumped out of the water and splashed back in. As the trees swayed in a refreshing breeze and Phoebe pointed out the overgrown apple orchard they hoped to revive, Deborah felt the tension easing out of her shoulders. Everything about Promise Lodge seemed so peaceful, so welcoming, that she dared to believe she might recover from being cast out of her home.
A movement caught her eye near the entry to the grounds, where Noah was leading his Belgian from the plot he’d finished plowing. Even from this distance, he appeared forlorn, lacking the exuberant energy Deborah recalled from their childhood and courtship.
I did that to him. I had no idea how much he loved me.
Deborah sighed. How could she convince Noah to forgive her, to trust her again? And where could she go if he didn’t?
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Many moons ago—like, in 1983 while she was still a school librarian—Charlotte Hubbard sold her first story to True Story. This launched her into writing around seventy of those “true confessions” stories over the years, and she’s been a slave to her overactive imagination ever since. Over the course of her writing career, she has sold nearly 50 books—most recently, Amish romance series she’s written as Charlotte Hubbard or Naomi King.
Charlotte lived in Missouri for most of her life, so her Amish stories are set in imaginary Missouri towns. These days she lives in St. Paul, MN with her husband of 40 years and their Border collie, Ramona.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cyber girl's face on abstract background

Excerpt:

From Chapter Nine

Danny looked as though he knew this was coming. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table.

“Looking back, I should have acted differently, but at the time it seemed like the right thing to do. Everything happened so fast, I honestly thought it was best to get out of your life completely before I ruined it.”

“Ruined it? Didn’t you think that just leaving might have ruined it too?”

“I figured I was replaceable.”

“That sounds like you’re doing both of us a disservice.”

“Do you remember telling me about how your mother left when you were younger?”

“Yes, I do. It’s not a story I share very often,” said Lucy, slightly confused.

“How she couldn’t handle the way of life, the constant moving, the dangers of your father’s job. Well, that’s what the future was looking like.”

“But you could have asked me. Maybe I would have been okay with that.”

“I had become a target, that means anyone close to me would have become a target too. That wasn’t a particularly attractive lifestyle to offer anyone.”

“A target?” Lucy asked. “But you work for local government – who’s targeting you?”

“Local government is just a useful cover. I work for myself now. Call me an Intelligence Troubleshooter.”

“Er…alright,” Lucy said, deliberately leaving some space for him to fill.

“I provide information to the Ministry of Defence through a satellite agency.”

“So, how does that make you a target?”

“Let’s just say I’m a hands-on operator.”

“So you’re a secret agent,” she said bluntly, with a slightly tongue in cheek smile.

“If you like, it’s a bit different in the modern world.”

“So basically, we’ve outsourced our spies!”

“Something like that. It’s more convenient this way, less difficult questions when things go wrong. Much easier for the government to distance themselves.”

“I still don’t understand how you become a target?”

“When you’re working out in the field you end up pretty close to the opposition. Sometimes it’s a physical as well as a mental battle,” Daniel explained.

“I didn’t think that sort of thing really existed; you know, all that cloak and dagger stuff.”

“It’s unpredictable, that’s for sure.”

“I don’t get why you didn’t tell me all this before.”

“It was all kicking off back then, everything was moving so fast. I was quite new to the whole way of life and I just didn’t think it was safe to involve you.”

“But you’re telling me now,” Lucy pointed out.

“Now you’re involved directly. I’ve no real choice. It’s ironic that the very thing that pushed me away has now pulled me back here.”

Take Me As I Am

by Charmaine Ross

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Forget the whole billionaire tycoon thing: Kate Moore is a billionaire’s daughter, and she knows first-hand that they’re not all romance novel worthy. Her father is brilliant, inflexible, and brutal – and nothing she’s ever done has been good enough for him.  Her one chance to take over the massive Moore’s Hotel Corporation is restoring the run-down Burnham Beeches in beautiful Sassafras to its former glory. To that end, she hires David Wright, a talented landscaper with an unparalleled eye for beauty and an unparalleled talent for distracting her from her goal.

David really needs this job. He needs the contract, the Moore’s name on his portfolio, and the money to pay for his ailing father’s health. Everything he’s worked for is now within his grasp, and he’s going to reach for it with both hands. What he doesn’t need is the diversion, or the temptation, presented by his new boss.

Neither David nor Kate are free to follow their own desires, but they’re powerless to fight their growing attraction. But they come from very different places; perceptions will have to crash, misconceptions will have to collapse, and they will have to face their own personal challenges before they find their space to meet in the middle.

Excerpt:

His hand lifted to her hair, his fingertips brushed where some of the ends curled. It slipped around a finger and he watched the burnished strands in the light. There was gold and honey and shining browns, gleaming like silk.

She moved her head, just a little, but it was enough for his fingertips to graze her jaw. Silken skin slid beneath his touch. He traced the line of her jaw then his hand cupped her nape, her hair falling gloriously over his forearm.

He waited her for to move away, but her eyes found his and caressed him with a look he couldn’t deny. He bent his head, lips brushing hers. Her mouth yielded and he pressed more firmly against them, taking her lips between his, moulding his mouth to hers.

Slowly, so slowly, her hand settled on his shoulder, a touch so light he barely knew it was there. But he did and the hot coals inside his gut flickered into a flame. He opened his mouth, brushed her lips with the tip of his tongue, tracing the line of her lower lip.

She sank into him, her hand crawling behind his neck as her other hand found his upper arm. He wound his free hand behind her waist, anchoring her against him. Her soft breasts pushed against his chest, her heat infusing through their clothing.

Her mouth opened, tongue caressed tongue, before he plunged into the hot, honeyed centre of her mouth. She met him move for move, tilting her head to deepen the kiss, their mouths, lips, tongues igniting their own private dance.

His brain was clouding with need, insanely intense, as though he were climbing to a peak only she would quench. His senses were attuned to hers, his skin sensitive to her touch, the tangible weight of her body against his.

Then that little niggling voice broke through the misty realms of his mind. The fog cleared, an inner voice nagging him for … something. Some reason he couldn’t quite connect with. There was nothing he wanted more than this woman in his hands to feel, explore, taste. Then the voice became louder, irritating the sensuous web that caressed him.

A reason.

The voice harassed him, badgering away the misty recesses in his brain. Reason. Boss. She was … is … his boss. What, in hell, was he doing!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Interview with the author:
  1. How long have you been writing?
I started writing really bad stores when I was about fourteen years old. I’d fill up notebooks with hunky boyfriends and go on adventures all from the safety of my bedroom. LOL. About eight years ago I joined a local writers group at my local library and joined the RWA. I was first published in 2012 with Destiny and Escape Publishing. Crimson Romance later took my paranormal romances and I have since written a thriller, titled The Unforgotten which is coming out through Ellora’s Cave. ‘Take Me As I Am’ is my latest contemporary romance and is being published through Escape Publishing.
I have also written five novellas which I have self-published. I find that they are good to use for marketing purposes. Also, there’s a trend for people reading the stories on e-readers to like smaller stories.
  1. How long have you been a published author?
Since 2012. I tried with my badly written books when I was fourteen, but alas, they failed. Although to be honest, the letters I received back from the publishers I sent my mss to were very supportive, which was lovely.
  1. What titles do you have available?
My contemporary romances:
Double Exposure
Wild AT Heart
Makeover Miracle
Take Me As I Am
Paranormal romances
Daman’s Angel
Paradise Island
Cursed
Novellas
A Kind of Magic – Chloe’s story
A Kind of Magic – Lydia’s story
Getting Hitched (RomCom)
Getting Preggas (RomCom)
Getting the Snip (RomCom)
  1. What made you choose the subject of this book?
I’ve always been intrigued by the Burnham Beeches in Sassafras, in the Dandenongs in Melbourne and have wanted it to be restored to its former beauty. I didn’t have enough time, money or logistical prowess to do it myself, so I wrote about my heroine who was more than capable of undertaking a job like that. The gardens surrounding the Burnham Beeches are absolutely beautiful and would have been stunning in their nineteen thirties glory. I needed a lean, toned, muscular landscaper for that job and so my hero was born.
In this book, I wanted to turn the tables on the rich man / ordinary gal plot and so made my heroine a billionaire’s daughter, having been groomed for luxury and educated in the best schools money could buy, and my hero a sexy, hard-working, yet salt-of-the-earth man. My favourite scene is when my hero strips off his shirt in the summer sun, my heroine can’t ignore the sizzle in her blood or the voice in her head that tells her that what her body wants is a bad idea. A very bad idea.
Add in some sexy spice, some differences of opinion, undeniable physical attraction and you have ‘Take Me As I Am’.
  1. Do you have any new titles coming soon?
Your Song – contemporary romance
The Haunted Mansion – paranormal romance
The Unforgotten – thriller
Time After Time – paranormal romance
I’m also finishing a paranormal romance trilogy about a cardiac surgeon who can see ghosts (and who falls in love with her ghost) A contemporary romance called Bogan Chick, think My Fair Lady meets Cinderella. More on the backburner.
  1. What is your favourite genre and why?
I like writing paranormal romance the best, I think. I like filling fantasy worlds that sweep you away. I also like putting people into situations that can’t ever be real-life. Where else can you have telekinesis powers, or kiss werewolves or do anything you like with sexy vampires. Reading and writing for me is really about mentally taking me away. I can have a holiday without the price of the cruise.
  1. What, to you, is the most exciting part of the writing process?
I like getting to the end of an edited draft that I’ll submit to a publisher. It is so satisfying to type The End. Mind you, I don’t like the edits that come back to me after that, but there’s something cathartic about putting an end to your story.
  1. If you could co-author a book with anyone, who would you choose and why?
I’d like to co-author a middle grade short chapter book with my children. I think they could give me the right perspective, although I think they’d be a tendency to slip in farts, poo, wee and other bodily functions if they helped me… Hmmm. Might need to rethink.
Since then, I have fallen in love with many heroes, some less safe than wh
