Excerpt:

He kissed her.

Stars fell from the sky. Drops of golden sunlight filled the air with pure joy. Birds sang a song the angels might envy. Oh, Cade!

Aimee forgot the ugly ring on her finger. She forgot Fortuna, and she never once thought of Rocky. Her heart pounded out a disjointed rhythm that filled her chest with more emotion than one heart could hold.

Cade buried his hand in her hair and deepened the kiss. Aimee moaned and pressed closer to him. The masculine planes of his chest against hers made her gasp as the scent of sun-warmed male skin surrounded her.

She ran her hand across his shoulder, marveling at the bulging hard muscles under her hand. Cade groaned and cupped her bottom to pull her closer. Her head spun, and they toppled over into the clean straw beside the puppies and their mother. They kissed as if they were starving for each other, but when his hips met hers, sanity returned in a rush. “Don’t. Please don’t,” Aimee gasped.

Cade made a sound low in his chest. “Why not? I’m dying for you, and you want me too.”

Shaking like a leaf, Aimee pushed against his chest, unsure if she wanted him to listen to her or not. He let her go. For the longest time neither of them said a word. They lay there staring at each other.

Interview with the Author:

How long have you been writing?

Do you mean the story I dictated to my dad when I was five?  LOL. Yeah, I wrote my first book at five. I’ve been writing as an adult for 15 years. It’s been a wonderful journey and has given me many hours of pleasure.

How long have you been a published author?
Oh, I was published in 2004. I won a writing contest whose first prize was publication of your novel. I still think the story line is one of my best. I broke a lot of writing rules when I wrote the book, but I do love the story.

What titles do you have available?
Let me see. From Oak Tree Press, there’s A New Leaf. From Whiskey Creek Press there’s Return Engagement and Blue 52. Both of these books are some of my very favorites. The Welcome Inn and The Captain and the Cheerleader are published by Wings ePress. Fortuna, A New Dream, Never Trust a Pretty Wolf, The Enchanted, The Sentence, The Table in the Window and Rest Thy Head are published by Clean Reads, and Purple Heart is published by The Wild Rose Press.

What made you choose the subject of this book?
My grandson requested it. He loves WWE style wrestling and asked me to write him a book about wrestlers. Well, I didn’t really want to, but like all good grandmas I caved and did it. The opening scene in the book takes place in the wrestling ring, but after that my wrestlers retired to West Virginia where the adventures just wouldn’t stop coming. This is kind of an over the top book so don’t expect it to be serious. Everything is exaggerated somewhat.

Do you have any new titles coming soon?
No, I don’t. I have two new ones to promote at the moment, and that’s about all I can handle.

What is your favourite genre and why?
I like mainstream romance. First, because romance provides an escape from reality, and everyone needs that from time to time. Second, I think romance satisfies our need for justice. People who aren’t very nice always get what’s coming to them, and third, we can rest easy in the knowledge that we will get a happy ending.

What, to you, is the most exciting part of the writing process?
Definitely the beginning. When I sit down to start a new book, I can’t type fast enough to get the words down. I have such a feeling of excitement, and I’m positively energized by the chance to create another world.

If you could co-author a book with anyone, who would you choose and why?
I guess I’d pick Debbie Macomber. I think she creates some beautiful characters and settings, and I love the emotion in her work.

Elaine Cantrell was born and raised in South Carolina where she obtained a master’s degree in personnel services from Clemson University.  She is a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary society for women educators and Romance Writers of America.  Her first novel, A New Leaf, was the 2003 winner of the Timeless Love Contest.  When she’s not writing or teaching, she enjoys movies, quilting, reading, and collecting vintage Christmas ornaments.
