BLURB:
Alone and betrayed, American professor, Bonny Bryant longs for a haven of peace. She accepts a position at a small Christian college in Fort William, Scotland, craving escape from her painful past. The passionate love which develops when she meets fellow professor and sheep farmer, Kieran MacDonell, is something she never anticipated.

Kieran harbors a deep anger toward God in the face of his own devastating grief. When Bonny’s former fiancé reenters her life, Kieran’s loneliness draws him to a former student.

How will Bonny decide between her rivals? Can they set aside the past to make way for a future, or will it drive them apart?

Land of My Dreams, Christian Romance Novel, spans the distance between New Mexico’s high desert mountains and the misty Scottish Highlands with a timeless story of overwhelming grief, undying love, and compelling faith.

Excerpt:

When Kieran left his office, he saw Bonny standing behind her car, her foot tapping and shoulders sagging. “Can I help you, Dr. Bryant?”

She startled, and he realized he had been so intent on watching her that he had failed to give warning of his approach. The eyes that met his sparkled, their brilliance drawing him like a treasure hunter to a prize emerald. She was a lovely woman.

“Dr. MacDonell, hello. I’ve changed flat tires before, but these lug nuts won’t budge.”

He checked the urge to brush a smudge of dirt from her cheek. “It’s Kieran, and I’m glad to be of help.” He forced himself to ignore the nervous pounding in his chest and the urge to run. He was alone with the woman who had filled his mind day and night from the moment she had walked into the room.

“I’m Bonny, and thanks.”

“I’ll take that spanner off your hands.”

“Spanner? Oh, you mean the lug wrench, of course.” She held it out to him and smiled.

He took a deep breath. Her smile reminded him of sun breaking through a Scottish mist. His fingers brushed hers as he took it, and he realized how small her hands were, like his mother’s finest china. Dainty and delicate.

Something about the patient way she watched caused his uncertainty to subside. Rescuing a damsel in distress wasn’t a bad way to meet. Tossing the caber was no longer possible, but he knew how to change a tire. She stood near enough for him to smell her perfume—feminine, like a rose garden.

Interview with the Author:

Thank you so much for hosting me!

1. How long have you been writing?
I have been writing most of my life, in one form or another. I wrote stories and poetry while I was growing up, even having a couple of small pieces published in a denominational magazine when I was in high school. While I pursued a career in nursing and raised my children, writing most often took the form of letters about one cause or another and Sunday School lessons. I have always believed that words can change things. I began working on my dream of becoming a published novelist in 2008 and signed my contract for my debut novel in 2012.

2. How long have you been a published author?
Land of My Dreams, my debut novel was released in the spring of 2014. I have had several Christian devotionals and poems published online and in Christian devotional books over the years.

3. What titles do you have available?
I am working on the sequel to Land of My Dreams, which is my only published book to this point. Family and health issues have prevented me from completing it so far.

4. What made you choose the subject of this book?
My husband and I were preparing for an anniversary trip to Scotland in 2006. I did so much reading while we were planning that I actually began to dream about it. I could see a Scottish Highlander in his kilt on a misty mountainside playing his bagpipes while surrounded by sheep. My husband is a Dutch immigrant to the US and being around a family of immigrants made me wonder what it would be like to immigrate as an adult, alone. The coming together of those ideas set the stage for my book. Of course, it had to be a romance.

5. Do you have any new titles coming soon?
I am working on a romantic novella for a collection that a blog group I belong to is putting together. No publication date is set for that. I am also working on the sequel to Land of My Dreams. I have pitched it to my publisher, who has invited me to submit it but do not have a contract at this time.

6. What is your favorite genre and why?
I love both contemporary inspirational romance and historical romance. Books with a happy-ever-after ending have always drawn me. I enjoy weaving a tale of two people falling in love and making it beautiful and real.

7. What, to you, is the most exciting part of the writing process?
Once I have an idea, my method is to sit down and write, allowing the story to flow. I just allow my mind to create and go back to fix things later. It is fun to write without constraint. I also like working with an editor to make it better and seeing how the finished project turns out.

8. If you could co-author a book with anyone, who would you choose and why?
My favorite Christian author is Michael Phillips. I love the spiritual depth of his stories and I would love to see what his creative process is like, though I might be so intimidated that I couldn’t write a word. He has co-authored several books. Mr. Phillips endorsed my book, which was truly an honor and I was struck by how down to earth and generous he was.

9. Where can readers find you on the web?
I am all over the place on social media. It is easiest to find me on Facebook where I love interacting with readers and other authors. I also enjoy being contacted through my website or getting comments from readers on my blog.

    1. I write about 4 hours a day. Often that is devoted to blog posts. On a good day, I can write on my latest work in progress that long. At least 2 hours goes to social media and marketing. I write on the computer and save a new version each day. That way, I can always go back if I change my mind about something when I am reviewing what I wrote.

    1. Aside from the time social media and marketing subtract from actual writing, the hardest part is feeling like I have given my best and getting the courage to send it for editing. Someone once said a writer will keep writing until someone makes them stop. It is so true. It’s like sending my children off to college to send a book yo an editor and then write “The End”!
